CALLING ALL BOWIE FANS
On January 10, Sydney Festival will hold a free celebration to honour David Bowie, his 1983 hit song Let’s Dance and its Australian-inspired video clip.
Let’s Dance was released in 1983 and heralded a seminal political transition for the artist. Filmed in Sydney and rural New South Wales, the song cemented Australia’s close relationship with Bowie. In his honour, and marking 12 months since his passing, Sydney Festival hands the Meriton Festival Village over to David Bowie fans! We’re inviting you to perform live onstage as part of the evening!
Individuals and groups of all ages, and from all artistic disciplines are invited to apply – singers, dancers, musicians, puppeteers, break dancers, spoken word artists, live visual artists, theatrical artists, circus artists – the choice is yours! Performance acts must be staged to the single version of Let’s Dance as a backing track, and singers will be accompanied by an eight-piece live band led by Lucian McGuiness.
