Lucian McGuiness is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and musical director who makes musical things happen, mostly around Sydney, Australia and Amsterdam, the Netherlands: #MDLoosemacg
Creation: Through composition, arranging and musical direction, McGuiness has developed exploratory and theatre-tinged musical concepts, such as a pastoral parlour music revival ensemble, a stomping trombone gospel choir, a rip-roarer of a rhythm & blues cabaret, and a world-touring the junk-jazz circus-theater Scotch and Soda show together with circus Company 2. McGuiness has been a finalist in the APRA Professional Development Awards for emerging songwriters. Check out the current arts projects at 'What'.
Direction: Since 2011 Lucian has MD'd on and off stage, and in the studio, for festival music events, jazz ensembles, cabaret artists, songwriters and more. His brass and string arrangements are to be heard on radios all over the world in the songs of Passenger, Tentempiés and Holly Throsby and All Our Exes Live in Texas , and on varieté stages across the world's major arts festivals in Scotch and Soda and Anya Anastasia's Rogue Romantic.
In addition he has been a regular and frequent session performer for artists such as Ben Walsh, Pete Philly & Perquisite, King Tide, the Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra, Joanna Newsom, Hi Tops Brass Band, Tentempiés and many more.
